Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE Zu. BUT I think the trade was a panic trade that didn’t need to happen during the season especially when they were trying to tank. And especially also giving up the 2029 pick too. I would’ve rather waiting until the offseason. Even if the pick still landed 5th they could’ve traded it in a trade like this and potentially get both Murphy and Missi for the 5th, Nesmith, and other picks and assets. And even if they wouldn’t have viewed Missi as the long term starter and didn’t want to extend Mathurin… they could’ve then done a sign band trade Mathurin for a long term starter at C if they didn’t view Missi as that. That’s my fuss over it, but I do like Zu, I just think it was an overpay and other East teams are getting better and this trade has depleted assets that could’ve been traded later
