Rockets Rationale:
While this seems like a lot for the Rockets to give up, it is the price you pay to consolidate assets and take a swing on major talent during a rebuild. Plus, none of the players the Rockets are giving up fit into the long term plans of the team.
The goal here is you would take Shaedon Sharpe at #4 and add him to Jalen Green, 2022 #3 pick and the other complimentary young role players the Rockets have drafted the past couple of years. The Sharpe intrigue with the Rockets is the fact that the Rockets would not necessarily be in a rush to bring him on and throw him into the fire right away. The Rockets have incentive to lose for 1 more year and also have the best G-League program in the NBA. Sharpe could spend a significant amount of his rookie season in the G-League developing (think KPJ) after his year off while the Rockets lose for one more season (look at the rotation below) with an extremely young roster. The additional players the Rockets would bring on in this trade can serve as veteran depth and expiring contracts
**Rotation (as of this trade):
Kevin Porter Jr/Kemba Walker/Daishen Nix
Jalen Green/Josh Christopher/Garrison Matthews
Justin Holiday/David Nwaba/Moe Harkless
2022 #3 Pick/Usman Garuba
Alperen Sengun/
*Shaedon Sharpe would join the rotation at SF in a significant way after his G League Stint
Kings Rationale:
Essentially, the Kings would be trading from #4 to #11 while picking up 1 Borderline star, 1 very high-level role player and 2 young role players that have shown promise with extended minutes. When you look at the landscape of what the Kings could get with the #4, there are not many great fits that both would help the Kings win now and extract the equivalent of #4 value. This trade allows you to fill multiple holes on the roster right away, stay in the lottery and acquire some pieces that have a ceiling to them, all without taking on any bad contracts. Christian Wood could provide nice spacing at the 4 next to Sabonis, Eric Gordon desperately fits a need as the Kings 3rd guard as they do not have that as of now. Jasean Tate is an immediate win-now player who would be in any rotation in the league while Kenyon Martin Jr. is not far behind that at all and has a nice ceiling to him. All 4 players also add lineup versatility, which is a huge plus around stars that are pigeon-holed into their positions like Fox and Sabonis. Adding all of that while being able to stay in the lottery at #11 is a win for the Kings.
**Rotation (as of this trade):
De'Aaron Fox
Davion Mitchell
Harrison Barnes
Christian Wood
Domontas Sabonis
Bench:
Eric Gordon
Jasean Tate
Kenyon Martin Jr
Trey Lyles
2022 #11 Pick
Knicks rationale:
This one is easy. They acquire an additional 1st Round Pick (unprotected I might add) in 2023 just by trading back 6 spots in the 2022 draft from #11 to #17. They could either keep this pick as it adds value to the roster or they could use it in a trade for a star like Donovan Mitchell. They also turn Kemba Walker's contract into Richaun Holmes due to him not necessarily fitting the Rockets timeline. Holmes can act as your Mitchell Robinson insurance in a way as it is unlikely he will be returning to NYK. The Kemba/Holmes part of the trade is not a requisite for this trade to happen however.
