Duren and Kuminga: Take the Money or Bet on Yourself?"

FAILED

I think a sign-and-trade for Duren would be a big risk but also an interesting move. Duren could bet on himself by taking a shorter deal with a championship team instead of signing a big contract now. If he wins or plays great, he could get a bigger contract later.

For Kuminga, taking a one-year minimum deal would also be a bet on himself. If he proves he can help a team win and becomes an important role player, he could rebuild his value and earn the big contract he wants.

This would also let Embiid rest a lot during the regular season. He could play only around 20-30 games and be fresh for the playoffs, while Duren handles most of the minutes. I also think Duren and Embiid could play together in some lineups.

For the Pistons, I think it's better to get picks instead of taking back a long-term contract. That would keep their cap space open and maybe even give them a chance to go after Jokic if he ever becomes available next year.

The risk is for the team too: if you give up picks and don’t win, you could lose those assets for nothing. It’s an all-in move that could be great if it works, but dangerous if it doesn’t. What do you guys think? Do you think Duren and Kuminga will take smaller contracts to bet on themselves and try to earn a bigger deal later, or will they end up in Sacramento becoming irrelevant
