Club takes chance in PG13's health during his contract to maybe gain some resemblence of a 3rd or 4th option 3&D wing and gain some size/defense in that regard which would align with club plans, seeing Vassell go without a healthy Fox (finger surgery needed) and Wemby would hurt but I feel like this enables Castle to rise up further, and gathers Spurs a valuable first and a swap, alongside a viable future backup center. I feel more comfortable having Spurs health department handle PG13's conditioning than Sixers who are suffering consequences of rushing Embiid for last playoffs.

So this upcoming offseason, the Spurs are expected to have at least $49 million in cap space. There are going to be a lot of good free agents available this summer, and I think the Spurs will pick some up to fill out the roster and go for a playoff push in 2026. They pick up Luke Kennard for 2 years, $20 million, Malcolm Brogdon for 2 years, $16 million, and Clint Capela for 1 year, $9.6 million. The Spurs get a lot of veteran and playoff experience with these signings. Brogdon, Kennard, and Capela have all been in the playoffs before and all three have made it to a Conference Finals (Brogdon with the Bucks, Kennard with the Clippers, and Capela with the Rockets and Hawks). Capela can be a really solid backup to Wemby, and can add some rebounding and rim protection off the bench. Kennard and Brogdon can both back up Fox and Castle, and will definetely add some shooting off the bench….
