BOS gets below the 2nd apron and saves more than $80m in (repeater) tax (according to Bobby Marks, just moving Hauser‘s $10m-contract saves them $80m next season, so given the difference between Porzingis‘ and Barnes‘ salaries, BOS could save around $160m in this trade?)
ORL addresses shot creation and perimeter shooting in the backcourt with an All-Star PG entering his prime and an efficient 3p shooting wing (a rotation player of a championship team, on a team-friendly long-term contract).
SA adds size, versatility and depth to its frontcourt. Isn’t Franz Wagner kind of a 5 years older, a little taller, stronger, perhaps a little slower and a little less athletic, but similarly well-rounded Flagg with a worse 3p shot (though FT and midrange shooting are totally fine?) Spurs also get the chance to try Unicorn-Twin-Towers-lineups for as long as Porzingis can stay healthy.
I’m absolutely stunned with how many users in the Fanspo Spurs community view Vassell. It’s like they haven’t watched many/entire games in the previous seasons and don’t take into account the context of the respective Spurs‘ roster constructions and injuries. To me, Vassell on his 4-year-deal holds more value to the Nets than Cam Johnson.
Champagnie is on one of the best-value-contracts in the league. He is from New York, a quality 3-and-D guard/wing, and a very positive presence throughout.
