This trade solves two problems for both teams

Clippers: The Clips are stupid old. This gives them youth and assets they can develop. Imagine Sochan learning from Kawhi. He's fallen out of the Spurs rotation. The Clips don't have any way of getting assets but this gives them a young asset to develop without having to give up the entire house to get him. Sochan needs minutes, and the Clips need young players.

Spurs: Need more veteran leadership and more 3pt shooting. Lopez is a real stretch big. He can rebound, defend, and shoot. Can he play with Kornet and Wemby. I think so. Imagine running a two big system with Wemby the staring PF along one of these two bigs. This allows Barnes to bolster bench scoring, allows Wemby the ability to roam a bit more. Sets up multiple screen and pop players the Spurs can employ all game long, and adds another solid veteran defender for a playoff run. Not to mention Lopez os a solid locker room guy. Spurs 4 man rotation would be Wemby, Barnes, Lopez, and Kornet. This is a solid group and provides insurance for the spurs if Wemby has any more injuries.

Maybe the spurs can pull a 2nd rounder out of this trade as well. but likely won't get much more than that for sochan nowadays.
