The Zion/Ingram experiment has failed every year since the duo was formed in the 2019/20 season. Since drafting Zion, the Pelicans have made the playoffs 2/5 years and have won 2! games in the playoffs in 5 years!?! While Zion hasn't been healthy till the last 2 seasons, this isn't an excuse for failing to be better than the 8th seed in the playoffs. Last season was their best since drafting Zion, and they got swept by the Thunder.
Note: The FRP that the Suns are giving the Pelicans should actually 2/3 of their picks from the Jazz.
Suns: Bradley Beal. The main point of this trade, he is the biggest part of the trade going to the Pelicans. Though he is a terrible fit in NOLA, his contract is the focus of the trade. Getting Zion in Phoenix isn't a great fit with Durant, having more youth on one of the oldest rosters in the NBA will help them in the next era in Phoenix. Herb Jones would be a perfect fit to help their defense coming off the bench.
Pelicans: If they decide to end the Zion/Ingram led team, then the players and picks from GSW and Phoenix would ease their rebuild. While they would still have many veterans on the team, they would likely make more trades later. Getting mediocre picks from Phoenix isn't ideal, but is better than Beal for Zion straight up.
Golden State: Curry Needs Help. Like the Suns they aren't very good right now. After a great start to the season they have fallen off a cliff. Ingram isn't a superstar, I am not saying that he alone will bring GSW a 5th Championship in the Curry era. But he will help them make the playoffs in this strong conference.
PS: This is just an idea for a possible trade should the Pelicans want to end their team dynamic that they have build over the past 5 years.
