One of the few ways I can see PHX getting off of Nurk this off season is this. Pop clearly likes Wemby next to another big man and Nurk basically just offers a more skilled player to do that with, with Wemby also able to cover up some of his defensive weaknesses. Suns also desperately need someone like Tyus Jones to set the table for Book and KD to go to work.

Not entirely sure what Jones' value will be on the open market, I've given him 3 yrs ~$50 million (I think the suns could afford about $10 mill more over that time) which sounds possible but could also be a decent bit more or less depending on the market for him. I think the suns would and definitely should overpay for him because they commit way too many turnovers and don't have a floor general.

So the trade winds up looking like the Spurs giving up a pick that will likely be pretty average if Luka is still in Dallas in 2030 (why would they trade him) and Branham who, like all the other people they've tried at the point this year, has been a bit disappointing as a Spur, the Suns get a floor general and off of Nurkic with a 2nd and the Wizards get something for Jones who could just walk in free agency otherwise, in the form of taking a punt on Branham's upside and a couple of picks.
