This has been a totally wild day for the nba so here’s a guide to everything that has happened in the past 24 hours just straight up because it can be confusing. I’m leaving the trade with my grades
Celtics trade holiday for 2 2nd round picks and anfernee Simon’s. He’s a solid player who contributed to his team and could help the Celtics in a future deal so over good. Grades: Boston: B+ Boston gets a great player and 2 first round picks and gives up an old Jrue holiday on secretly one of the worst contracts in the league. He had a career low (excluding rookie year) in points with 11.1 and he’s just not looking like the player he once was Portland: C- This does fix there timeline and gives Henderson someone who can mentor him in holiday, they had to give up picks for that. It’s not to bad but would be better if they could get a pick out of it.
In other trailblazer news, Matisse thybulle picked up his player option. He’s a great player and could help the squad. Grade:B He’s a solid player not much of a big deal
Daniel gafford signs a 60 million dollar 3 year contract extension. He really helped them the past couple years and helped in the 2024 finals Grade: B+ Solid contributor and really a great player. Interesting to see if the lakers trade for him he has been in rumors.
Next was the pelicans and wizards trade. I don’t know all the details, but Cj Mcullum and Kelly olynek for Jordan Poole and Saddiq bey. There are some exchanging of picks that I’m not to sure about mb But I think Poole could be a good player with Zion especially as they are similar ages. Washington has a big three of CJ, Khris Middleton, and Alex sarr…interesting. We will see what happens I’m not to sure Grades Pelicans:B+ They could build with Poole and reset after the CJ and BI years. Overall good deal for them. Wizards: C They don’t really get to much out of the deal other than some veteran leadership. They get a second and it’s kinda just to move into a new era for them.
The last deal of the day as I’m making this at 8:06 PM is porzingus to the hawks. The full trade is Hawks get: porzingus and a second rounder. Nets get: Terrance Mann and no. 22 pick. Celtics get: Georges niang and a second rounder This is an interesting trade for both the hawks and Celtics. The Celtics don’t exactly get a player like porzingus. I love Niang but he’s not the level of porzingus. They did kinda get a steal in the Portland deal but I’m just curious what they will do. They can either tank for the year Tatum is out, but when he comes back can they really even compete? I mean without there main guys the lineup would likely be for 2026-2027 PG simons SG white SF brown PF Tatum C kornet? They would have a bit of a center issue. I’m just not sure that team can compete with the likes of prime wemby, the potential okc dynasty, and Luka entering him prime. I’m just not sure they can compete but it will be interesting to see what happens. as for the hawks, this is a win now move. They see that the east is wide open, with the pacers, cavs, magic, Knicks being kinda the top 4. Hawks do this to have a good duo of Trae and porzingus and this kinda tells us they won’t be trading Trae anytime soon. They tried Murray and that didn’t work but a pick and roll could work with both of them having the ability to shoot the ball. It will be interesting to see what happens in the east next season but we will have to see. Nets don’t do to much just mainly get a pick 🤷♂️ Grades: Hawks: A- Nets: B Celtics: C+ Overall hawks win the trade, nets could get a piece in the draft, and Celtics are one of the most intriguing teams in the league right now.
