OKC's Tax Bill would be insane in 26/27, but swapping CamJ for Joe over the next two years makes OKC nearly unbeatable. They also make room for #19 Rasheer Flemming and #24 Walter Clayton Jr (to replace Joe) and extend Jaylin Williams cheaply. This puts OKC just below the tax in 25/26 by $200k, but around $50m in the luxury tax in 26/27 ($200m tax bill roughly). The lineup versatility would be insane. The Thunder also continue to procure the LAC future by taking 28/29 swaps by making the 76ers whole on their own future draft picks.
Needless to say OKC also offers SGA a 35% Supermax, JDub and Chet 25% max extensions through 30/31.
Starters: SGA, Dort, JDub, Chet, IHart 2nd: Cason, Caruso, Wiggins, CamJ, JWil 3rd: Clayton, Ajay, Topic, Kenrich, Fleming Two Way: Carlson, #43, #44.
This also seems like a win for other teams. Philly gets to swap Lauri for PG, two late 1sts in 2025, and their picks back for #3 and LAC swaps. For Lauri the Jazz get to move up to #3 from #5 and #8 from #21, and secure next year's pick back. They can also move PG later this offseason or at the deadline for more assets. The Nets move up on 3 picks to #5, #15, and #21 from #8, #19, and #26/#27; pickup Joe who they can flip for a mid to late 1st or protected future 1st, young talent they can develop in Dieng/Jones, and OKC 2026 least 1st (didn't show up in trade, not sure why) for CamJ and the 76ers 2027 (top 8).
The most unlikely part of this trade is OKC being willing to pay that much tax for 1 season. But in 27/28, OKC could decide to get back under the 2nd Apron when Dort/IHart/CamJ/Wallace all have expiring contracts with $42m to pay two of those 4 guys.
