Next Move for the Blazer's Rebuild

SUCCESS

The Blazers just got a solid package for Dame, but they should capitalize by trading Holiday to a contender. By trading him away, they confirm they are going into rebuild mode and let their fans finally know what direction they are going. With this trade, they also solidify a young core consisting of Scoot-Simons-Sharpe-Jaquez-Jovic-Ayton, along with Grant who could raise his value and then be traded. I could also see them trading Simons in the near future to open up all the starting guard playing time for the Scoot-Sharpe tandem.

The Bucks acquired Damian Lillard today, solidifying themselves as contenders. They lose the defensive presence of Jrue and a key rotational player in Allen, but Dame could prove to be worth it. If Middleton can return to star form (and even if he doesn't fully), the starting lineup of Dame-Pat-Middleton-Giannis-Lopez will be lethal. They need to just sign a reliable veteran backup PG-SG to get their bench unit set, although AJ Green should first be given the games to prove himself. Already having Beasley, Beauchamp, Crowder, and Portis is a good start though.

The Suns strengthen their depth chart with this trade, while also getting off Ayton's big contract. I had high hopes for Ayton on the Suns coming into this next season, but this will allow him to develop his game further under less pressure on a rebuilding Portland squad. The defense is pretty atrocious overall, although Booker, Okogie, Allen and Durant can all hold their own (for the most part; a couple others can as well). Even with a below average defense, they have maybe the best offense in the league with a starting lineup of Beal-Booker-Okogie-Durant-Nurkic and a bench unit of Lee-Allen/Gordon-Little-KBD-Watanabe/Johnson-Eubanks.

Nothing much to say here for the Thunder. I do really like Mann, but there isn't much time for him in the guard rotation. They exchange two bench unit guys and FRPs with the Heat, but give Miami a backup PG and the Thunder another hustle player. This also allows Miami to trade more picks for their part of this trade.

Miami is able to get its third/fourth star (we will have to see how Herro comes back). The starting lineup of Jrue-Herro-Butler-Love-Bam will terrorize teams on both ends of the court. Having some of the best defenders in the league at the PG, SF, PF (with Martin off the bench), and C positions will have them in the race for the best defense. The bench unit is also solidified with Mann-Richardson-Robinson-Martin-Bryant. Hurting Jaquez and Jovic hurts their future, but it is win-now mode with Jimmy.
