OKC only has two missing pieces, a backup PG and backup PF. They also need to move some of the lesser quality 2025 picks down the road. Bringing in Schroder gives you a great backup PG that can run the offense without SGA on the court and fill in for SGA/JDub if they are out. Dennis is also an expiring deal so the Thunder can easily move that role over to Topic next season. For PF, Dieng just doesn't appear ready, and while the Nets have time to let him continue to develop, Watford can contribute off the bench now, and if it doesn't work out, he's also expiring. The Utah 2025 gamble (could be 2nds or could be the 9th pick in 2026) is for the player swaps, and the switch of the 76ers picks in 25/27 gets the Nets players now and pushes the pick for OKC to 2027 when OKC could be losing several rotation players.
