To be fair, this trade seems unlikely, but a trade in this framework is all but certain IMO. Wolves will all but need to be a cap relief spot for a team trying to cut back on what they pay next year unnecessarily above the luxury tax, adding a couple solid players for the run along the way, trying to bolster to a championship framework. I could see the clippers being a potential team, but ballmer doesn’t need to cut cost so it’s not necessary. That being said with these guys out of the rotation it becomes logical, and opens up saving this and next year. Adding a pick or two (see below) could be of value to them, also making sure not to take on salaries for the future. Maclaughlin could give them similar minutes to bones in that he could be a third stringer that covers injured minutes. Maclaughlin could also have some value going to another team who needs a guard so a third team entering the picture and taking on jmac wouldn’t be out of the question.. this gives the wolves more explosion and bones a chance to shine in a slightly bigger role, especially in the regular season. If he showed improvement on defense, he could earn himself a contract across the league, with the wolves giving him an out over the summer, moving him for draft assets as an expiring contract to a team who can use a young scorer with some solid defensive framework (assuming wolves system allows him growth). Coffey becomes a pure depth player, making sure the wolves aren’t forced into Moore (not that seeing a young guy would be bad but seems as if coaches are avoiding it) if injury bug hits down the stretch.

This is one of my ideal scenarios, and this framework:relief for a team not completely a contender that has too much salary committed, seems to be a sensical one complimented w other moves if wolves are serious and owners are willing to spend.
