Wolves logic: Struss in the wolves system with lack of volume needed and his ability to play defense and make threes, he would be a great piece to a contender ( As he has been in the past.) This also gives the wolves a depth that allows minutes to stay more reasonable and not force ant into 39 minute nights come playoff time unless needed.

Cavs logic : Struss hasn’t been all the Cavs have wanted him to be I’d imagine, and his long term deal is probably going to look concerning if the Cavs wanted to make significant retool moves in the off-season. Not that his contract can’t be held onto and retooling done elsewhere or less players added and the core stays more or less together for cleveland. TBH I don’t know if this gets it done, but TBJ when minutes have been increased has provided quality 3 and d minutes, on a bargain deal. Anderson provides not much more than some defense structure and vet presence but his expiring contract allows the Cavs to move on from most of Struss contract within half a year of signing it, while getting some quality assets back. If Cavs are going win now this may not make sense, but in the real world where the Cavs ought to retool, I think it’s logical, especially if TBJ continues providing very solid minutes to the wolves.
