NHL introductory

Today I will be talking about several hockey related things such as my favorite teams players and some basic rules and history this will be a semi short article but I hope you enjoy

Let's get started with my favorite team the Penguins, I have just always liked them since I started watching hockey and my favorite player is Sydney Crosby, but that is currently my all time favorite player is Jaromir Jagr, a legend for the team and in my opinion a top 3 player in Penguins history.

I also like the Red Wings but not as much as the Penguins.

The most successful teams are, the Canadians with 24 Stanley cups, the maple leafs with 13 Stanley cups, the Red Wings with 11 Stanley cups and the bruins and Blackhawks with 6 Stanley cups each.

Then considered by almost all who watch hockey and frequent the sport the greatest player of all time is Wayne Gretzky, and there isn't much debate for there to be had, but if you think it's someone else who and why

Finally let's talk about the penalty box and some basic penalties as well, first the different box times are 2 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes and after multiple major penalties you can be ejected from the game. Here's an example of a penalty relating to each time spearing is a 2 minute penalty, fighting (in most cases) is a 5 minute penalty and misconduct is the most common 10 minute penalty. There are also penalties that just see a whistle blow and a faceoff to decide possession of the puck, this will always be in the end of whichever team commits the foul, a couple of examples are icing and offsides.

Actually the last thing now, scoring it's very basic in terms of getting the goal is one point but assists are also important for a players individual point total at the end of the year. They work in a way if you made the main pass leading to a score you get an assist, but just like the NBA their assist rules are a little janky and inconsistent at times. You can also have ties in hockey unlike most sports but similar to the NFL ties are a possibilty and also very common, but in the playoffs obviously there are no ties and they will play till a winner is decided and in the most recent Stanley cup final there were multiple overtime games.

That's all for now just a basic introduction to the sport of hockey.

Comment you're favorite team and if you don't have one I'd recommend watching hockey this upcoming NHL season it's starting soon.

Also would you guys like more NHL coverage since basically no one else does any?
