This may be the first Big Board to say “ceteris paribus“ at any point. I don’t think that’s a strong suit.
The Spurs can use both of their first round picks in this draft and still have plenty of assets to trade for a star when the right one becomes available. Spending all of their assets on the wrong star is much much worse than not cashing them in this year.
My preferred outcomes that seem possible are walking away with two of Castle, Carter, Knecht, Salaun, Holland and will not be angry if ZR, Shepard, or Dillingham ends up in there instead. I am also all for trading next year’s Bull’s pick to them (and probs plus something) for 11. I would prefer not to end up with MB, DC, or trading to the first pick to get ZR.
