Realistic Ceiling:
Offensively if Sharpe reaches his ceiling he is an elite 3 level scorer who can play both on and off ball. On ball he could develop a vast repertoire of moves and counter moves that could make him borderline unguardable when he is on. Off the ball he could operate off of off ball screens and also get himself open on back door cuts for easy baskets. Due to the attention he would draw as a scorer he would easily be able to find his teammates for open looks.
Defensively Sharpe has the tools to be a high level defender. His speed, athleticism, and size allow him to recover even when he makes a mistake defensively.
Risk/Reward:
In my opinion there are 3 things you know will translate for Sharpe… size, athleticism, and shooting. His size and athleticism will allow him to make mistakes and still be able to recover. His shooting and experience playing off the ball will allow him to begin his career playing primarily off ball which is where he will be most effective. His on ball game can slowly be brought on as his team sees fit.
There are obvious risks with Sharpe. The main one being the fact that he is essentially going to the NBA coming straight out of high school. For every star that has been produced coming straight out of high school there are 5 or more guys that never make it. Due to his age he is also not as strong (physically and mentally) as his piers in this draft class. He is not a guy who will make an immediate and efficient impact on a team, but if given time and developed properly he has superstar potential.
Overview:
Taking Sharpe is a risk for any team due to his inexperience, but he is worth the risk as he could become the best player from this class. He projects to be an elite two-way player if he reaches his ceiling. His career could begin like that of Kobe Bryant where he starts out as a young, skinny, and inefficient guy who then develops into one of the greatest to ever play.
