The selling point on Jabari Smith is pretty easy: Fluid athlete at 6'10". Nice Frame, Long arms. Strong defender. 42% 3P shooting. Not exactly the world's most fluid ballhandler, but isn't a total liability with the ball in his hands. Makes smart reads and can use his scoring threat to pull defenses in and make the next pass. Has a real perennial All-Star case if he refines his handle and scoring isolation. However, Smith's size usually means he doesn't have to shake defenders to get a high percentage shot. Has been called the Kevin Durant of college basketball, but has nowhere near the level of scoring genius that Durant possesses or frankly, possessed at Smith's age. He does however seem to posses Durant's skill of being long, and unbothered by nearly ever defender, even if they're right up in his grill. Smith is pretty perfectly suited for the modern NBA, giving you at the very least a highly proficient stretch 4 with a frame to to defend almost every position on the floor. He's not entirely unlike Evan Mobley, but lacks Mobley's rim protection genius. Still, what Smith lacks as a defender (lacks isn't exactly the best word as I think Smith projects to be a definitively plus defender long-term) he makes up for in being one of the strongest shooters we've seen for a highly-skilled forward prospect in a few years.
