STRENGTHS:
Physically very gifted; 6'10", 7'1" wingspan, very broad frame that allows for him to take up space on both ends of the court
Very good rebounder; 10.3 rebounds per game, 27.7% defensive rebounding rate (88th percentile), about an 8% offensive rebounding rate. Crashes well and uses his frame to his advantage
Very good playmaking ability; 3.7 assists per game, a 23% assist rate ranking in the 98th percentile, thriving in transition and as a top of the key, DHO processor
Goos scorer at the basket; shot 61% on shots inside 11-feet, mainly getting those shots in transition, off of offensive rebounds and on pick and rolls, embracing the contact on finishes around the rim
Defensively very versatile; moves his feet well and is schematically very versatile when it comes to pick and roll coverages. Posted a 4.4% block rate, and opposing players shot worse in every area of the court when he is on the court
WEAKNESSES:
With the frame that he has, he can be outmatched by smaller players if they drive into his chest; core strength needs to be developed given the frame he has
Not much evidence of him becoming a shooter; shot 29% from 3 on low volume and 62% from the free throw line, indicating that he is a long way from developing a respectable jumper
Has a high turnover rate; 2.4 turnovers per game, 16% turnover rate, often trying to thread passes through passing lanes that aren't open. Decision-making will need to be honed in in his smaller role at the next level
Not much offensive creation for himself as far as post moves go; doesn't have many counters if he gets walled up in the paint. For now gets his buckets as a play finisher more than his own play initiator
Summary: Baba Miller is a very large player to handle on both ends. Having transferred multiple times over his collegiate career, he put together his best statistical season and gave reason for why he can become a quality NBA player after years of being unable to find a niche. His size and length are his immediate calling cards, combined with his blend of transition and fast break initiations and playmaking, and his playmaking is used in many different contexts. There is not much of an offensive creation game to him, nor does he have much evidence of producing a quality outside shot. His defensive ability combined with his physical traits makes him a very easy player to imagine getting rotation minutes for any team, not having to be a situation-dependent player. Miller does not have many great traits and he does not have any fatal flaws, which makes him a quality prospect worth seeing if he can develop into a good rotation piece.
