Player analysis
Dereon Seabron is one of the most unique players in this year's draft because of his extremely versatile and oddball game. He was one of the most efficient slashers we have ever seen in college despite being a leaner wing player, this was not only due to his ability to cut but also because of the great rate he draws fouls. In workouts he shined as a player not even guards could even stay in front of because of his immense speed and fast twitch power, front offices noted that he was unstoppable against other draft prospects during scrimmages when on the fast break. One thing that could be seen as negative is his need to rely on getting to the rim because of a tweaked up shot, he grew up playing at local gyms so it isn’t surprising he learned to drive rather than shoot especially with his athleticism. If Dereon can pair his acceleration with some more strength he will become one of the best slashers in the league as well, NBA coaching and spacing will obviously help him because of his unpolished game and his lack of high level assistance at North Carolina. Seabron is a solid defender and he uses his length to disrupt on the other end of the floor, his athleticism kept him above average in college but I don't see him as an All-Defensive member or anything in the league. The part about his game that makes him truly dynamic as a guy who can play 1-4 is his passing ability which wasn't shown off in college due to weak roster construction. We might see some point-forward play out of him in the NBA when he is encouraged to be more of a team player. Although Dereon can be sloppy with the ball, his mix of tools, slashing, and upside kind of make him a can’t miss prospect in my eyes and a guy who should be a lot higher on more mainstream platforms.
