Another great prospect in this superb draft class. Very solid in everything you can imagine in a Point Guard, from 3pt shooting, to passing to efficency you can't go wrong with a talent like this. Probably would be the top talent in 2024 ahead of everyone else.
He looks like a fabulous player and whoever drafts him are lucky.
Current Ranking: 2
harper already looks like a pro out there for rutgers.
he looks poised and in control, being a pretty solid offensive player and a little underwhelming defensively, but not bad.
i question his motor and what his peak potential is, but he’s decent right now and has looked solid so far into the season.
Smooth, polished PG who has good size. Good basketball IQ and passes well. Solid shooter. Not very athletic or explosive, but is the best pure PG in the class and has a super high ceiling.

Strengths: Great downhill player and aggresive finisher, Elite shot-creator with solid playmaking instincts, solid perimeter defender

Shades of/comp: Jalen Brunson, Kevin Porter Jr., Cade Cunningham
Best outcome: Continues to develop playmaking abilities, Confident and efficient scorer, All Star
mid outcome: Doesnt show full lead guard abailities with lack of playmaking, Not a consistent defender, still has great scoring abilities
worst outcome: One of the safer prospects for me but could struggle at the next level if the 3 doesnt fall.

I’ve liked Dylan Harper for quite some time, and he is starting to become more of a favourite among the consensus due to his impressive performance as a freshman. He was a highly touted prospects before, but now he is being put in the same conversation as Cooper Flagg by some, including myself. You’d have a very difficult time finding a point guard prospect better than Dylan Harper in the last twenty year, especially one that’s better suited to be a true lead guard.

Dylan has an unheard of level offensive game for a freshman guard. He processes the floor at a high level and makes decisions quickly. His delivery on his passes are great and he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. He is in the second tier of passers in the class, he isn't quite at the level as Egor or Kasparas as he is much more reactive and doesn't make some of the home run passes they do. He has a very tight handle and can get to his spots. While he doesn't possess top end burst, or a 40 inch vertical, he is still a great athlete. He has great balance and dexterity which makes him a great interior scorer. He is a good finisher with either hand when driving is is comfortable taking his time and going off two feet. He also often goes off his outside food to throw off the defenders timing, this is another way he gets around his lack of high end explosion. He has a great post game too as he utilizes spins and fakes to create easy opportunities. He is not a good shooter yet but he is a solid free throw shooter and there is nothing noticeably off about his shot.
He has quick feet and hands. His strength and ability to move laterally combine with his 6ft 10 wingspan to make a very good on ball defender. He is active off the ball and has a good feel for passing lanes and cuts. He doesn't gamble for steals often which is something I look at as a positive for team defense. He is good enough on the ball that it is better if he doesn't risk taking himself out of the play. I doubt he is an all defense guy because he isn't going to be the type of shot blocking guard or ball hawking guy that some of these hyper athletic guards are, but he will be a positive very early on.
He is one of the best prospects in this class. Usually players without a good jumpshot or elite burst don't get drafted highly but he has already found a way to overcome this with his craft in the interior and the way he impacts winning with his defense and playmaking.
