Jalen Slawson- Furman (F) Age: 23.6yrs 6’7 220 (Larry Nance Jr.)
Slawson has a high motor and is a good defender especially in help defense situations. He is physical, moves his feet well and has active hands. Offensively good at finding backdoor cutters with the ball in his hands and can be a pick and pop guy in other pick and roll situations. Self creation with the ball is not the highest but moves well without the ball to find lanes to the basket.

RANK
Shorter Nic Batum. A do-it-all wing prospect with lengthy arms and quick feet. A terrific defender who stays in front of ball handlers and contests shots with high/active hands. Can shoot over defenders using his long wingspan, and has shown he can get to the rim with some shake. Still can improve ball handling and shot making, but as a senior prospect, he is a polished 3-D player who can make tough shots and can defend 1-4.

Taller frame for a forward Long legs and arms allow for easy moving Can run in a variety of ways, as a 3&D threat, or as a screener and post player Awkward form that translated to 40% from three Really ran this Furman team, overcame 04 seed Virginia in first round Plays a great brand of basketball, keeps the ball moving and creates plays for others Hustles all the time Can be somewhat active as a rebounder Uses body well on defense, can use body to contest shots A bit unaware at times on help/screen defense, needs more spacial awareness as a whole to be a complete player Really limited potential, no better than what he was at Furman at the next level Southern Conference sucked, poor competition Has true offensive versatility, can be a three point threat, post threat, playmaker, or cutter Combination of hustle and natural size made a monster on defense Stays with his man, gets in the way of the hoop Contributes to winning basketball, has an efficiency-focused game, makes impactful plays Used in roles he most likely won’t appear in in the NBA, more so a spot-up shooter than a post threat Solid passer who finds open lanes Has some really bad habits that’ll hurt him in the NBA (such as unnecessary fouls, poor positioning) Hops a lot on defense, needs to stay grounded Often passes up good, open looks, uncomfortable from deep Questionable role at the next level Love his zip-passes through the lane, effective in setting up men Don’t love him as an off-the-dribble creator, relies on positioning and intelligent passing Backdoor passing is tremendous, understands and takes advantage of holes in the defense Flashes of incredible leaping ability, threw down an enormous no-look, two-hand slam against Belmont Compact finisher with strong arms Nice vision for open shooters, tough to get in the way of his stiff, strong dishes Solid rebounder Has a really fun first step, moves so quickly yet powerfully down the lane Questionable ball security, overwhelmed in the tournament Great feel as an opportunity seeker, just craves out additional chances for his team Love his interior defense, really stable, active hands Cross-court passer can dish out the court’s length with precision Super competitive and aggressive player, always looking to make an impact on either side of the ball Mechanical defender with stable fluidity Not a lengthy player, relies on body strength See him as a slashing role player at the next level Very much an older prospect Great off-ball defensive awareness, help defense will be a big game-changer for him as a player in the NBA Impactful in both roles of the pnr Constantly make the right, simple play Lacks major weaknesses - other than rather awkward shooting form and tough transition to NBA Basketball, which will impact him Fun explosiveness, can be a big time athletic finisher, hunts down putbacks Gets so high on his rebounds Solid cutter when given the role

Tier 5.5 : One contract player/5 or 6 years in the NBA
Defensive beast and specialist, older than most (24), he will be a contributor right away in the NBA in a specific role. He is in consideration for a second round pick.
24-year-old Jalen Slawson doesn’t have much ‘upside’ in the traditional sense, but he’s a remarkable defender who provides unique offensive versatility at 6-foot-7. While not an elite shooter, nor particularly explosive creating his own shots inside the arc, Slawson finds ways to influence winning – primarily with his playmaking acumen. He spent a lot of time in the driver’s seat for Furman’s offense, running sets on the elbow and spraying passes to open teammates all over the floor. He’s a fascinating utility player who could be ready to go day one given his experience level.

Forward: 6'8" / 7'0" WS / 8'10" SR
Slawson is versatile defender with impressive feel for the game. He is good defending on the perimeter against wings and has shown the occasional ability to lockdown guards, but projects to be a 2-4 defender--though he is never a mismatch against bigs in the paint. He is a super smart help defender, especially at the rim where he is an impressive rim protector. He averaged a 5.6 block% and a 3.1 steal% through his collegiate career, representing his quick processing and high feel. He has point forward ability with his knack for passing, he averaged 3.2 apg. He is a great rim finisher converting 73% of his attempts. He is an explosive leaper off one foot and is quick in the open floor where he loves to get out. He had his best year as shooter shooting 39% from three and has shot 75% from the line over the years, he should be a solid floor spacer. If he is, he has a great shot fake and is quick to attack closeouts and as a defender you better not jump if he has a runway. He is very right hand dominant.
Long Term NBA Role/Ceiling: Fringe Allstar / Versatile defender point forward

RANK
Strengths: Has some fun playmaking flashes overall good in that area, oh my goshShown to get out in transition, overall a versatile defender.
Weaknesses: Needs to find a way to score better off the bounce, too reliant on one hand, needs to turn the ball over less.
