Comp: Malcolm Brogdon/George Hill

  • good overall jumpshooter; prefers his looks off the bounce but can also hit at a slightly less efficient rate off the catch

  • great connective playmaker with high passing IQ/instincts and great accuracy; not super turnover prone

  • tends to float around the perimeter and can’t initiate looks toward the rim without a screen or some type of pre-served advantage against the defense

  • doesn’t finish well when he gets to the rim; sub-50% as a noticeably hesitant finisher; avoids contact at the rim

  • high defensive motor with long arms and solid athleticism; can get disruptive in passing lanes

  • has solid versatility as either a 1 or 2 on both sides of the floor

  • slimmer frame with a clear lack of any high-level athletic traits

(20/3) TBC

Excellent catch & shoot 3pt shooter with confidence, and knows when to shoot it. 3PT% has gone up every year in college

Defensively, Proctor isn't mindblowing, but he is physical and holds his own. He plays with grit and plays off ball defense with a lot of awareness. Contests well.

Proctor surprised me with his dribble penetration, he doesn't let his defenders get lazy. Controlled and precise.

At 6'5 I've seen him pull down rebounds I didn't expect him to get to.

Not super comfortable shooting off the dribble, and struggles to self-create, especially when tightly defended.

Gets caught on screens when guarding fast players, which means he ends up in bad positions.

Not a playmaker, and throws some questionable passes.

Comp: poor man's George Hill

Tyrese Proctor is a polished combo guard with decent size (6′5″, 6′7″ wingspan) and high basketball IQ—a smooth shooter, steady playmaker, and intelligent defender who is pro-ready. Over three years at Duke, he developed into a reliable offensive piece: as a junior, he averaged 12.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.2 APG, while delivering efficient shooting (45.2% FG, 40.5% 3P, 68.0% FT) across 38 games. Testing confirmed his athletic consistency—36.5″ max vertical, 10.75s lane agility, 3.00s shuttle, 3.19s ¾ sprint, 8′4½″ reach— backing a guard who can compete physically despite not being elite.

On film, Proctor stands out in the pick-and-roll: he times reads, manipulates spacing, and probes closeouts before shooting or feeding—earning rave reviews as a primary or secondary initiator, making smart decisions and not putting the ball in harms way. His shooting splits are great; 43% spot-up threes and 47% on pull-up threes, alongside a lethal pull-up midrange (52.9%) that complements his offensive scoring pallet. His assist-to-turnover ratio (~2.2:1) underscores smart decision-making, and he finished the season with a 3.0/1.3 AST/TO ratio.

Defensively, Proctor brings engaged fundamentals and length. He rotates well, sticks in P&R coverage, and uses his wing-like wingspan to challenge shots while relying on positioning more than athleticism, which bodes well as he ages. He has grown into playing roles both on- and off-ball.

His light frame (183 lbs) leaves him vulnerable to stronger NBA guards—he often avoids contact and can struggle finishing at the rim, shooting just 50.9% on layups and 55% on rim attempts, being more finessy instead of going through contact. His burst and vertical pop are average for his size, which explains his rim finishing numbers. He’s also not a volume creator—assists hover at 2.2/game—and his off-ball movement is limited, with few cuts or relocation shots. He'll need to add strength to handle physical defenders, especially in switch-heavy NBA matchups.

His value lies in being a plug-and-play 3-and-D wing/guard combo—a sweet bench piece who can shoot off the catch, initiate secondary play, and defend capably. If he adds strength, improves finishing, and maintains his shooting, he could grow into a valuable rotational guard. Regardless, his floor-spacing and poise on both sides of the court make him a valuable asset immediately.

Player Comparison: Shades of Andrew Nembhard and Derrick White

GSW position: PG/SG

Strengths: a good team defender, can defend guards (that is his size), can playoff ball, nice 3 point shot, a nice on ball defender, always trying to see were his player he is guarding is at at all times, jumps high for rebound when he is in the paint trying to get it, a nice jumper

Weakness: Going inside at times, free throw percentage has went down (does not really go to the line much)
