++Jazz++- They got unlucky in the draft and fell to 5!! Their plan was to compete next year, but no one at pick 5 is elevating them next year. IMO, they should restructure the team for the future and trade a slightly older Lauri while he has solid value. Adding Sharpe is better than any new young piece you could add at 5. PLUS Jazz would still keep pick 5 + pick 11 & can get salary relief in Middleton's expiring contract.

++POR++- They have made solid strides this year and could compete for the P-I-T next year without a new piece. Adding Lauri gives them a shot at actually getting a playoff spot! This trade resolves the Grant enigma and leaves flexibility through the year for Ayton's & Ant's future (resign or trade). They trade pick 11, but slide back to pick 21 to still add an impactful rookie.

I like Sharpe for POR, but Sharpe's goal is to be an All Star and impact a game like Lauri already has.. So why not just trade for Lauri!?

++WAS++- They also missed out in the lotto and need help everywhere! They have been looking for vet leadership and traded players like Kuzma away to add more stable guys. Grant is stable, can play on or off the ball, and he won't complain about wanting a trade. In POR, fans know Grant has sat out for "injuries" due to tanking. Middleton has sat out due to consistent serious injuries. This trade is a plus for WAS overall on the court/ in the locker room.
