Pacers Acquire a high-flyer that fits the organization timeline and roster design (same age range as Caris, Sabonis, etc), save a little over $750k, and swing a first round pick in the process. I consider that a quality return for what they're offering to Portland.
Portland Upgrades Jones Jr. to a more experienced veteran that shoots more effectively from the perimeter and defends slightly better outside the paint. At 29, Lamb fits the Blazers' timeline perfectly and can slot in as a rotation piece at the two or three.
In short, Indiana saves money, gets a (low) 1st rounder, and acquires an immediate replacement, while Blazers make a roster-buffing move. Both are on one-year contracts anyway, I think it makes perfect sense.
