So these are all teams that underperformed last year and are looking to make a statement in the offseason. Through free agency, none of them have done it. Indy missed the playoffs, the Wizards got bounced out of the first round as did the Blazers, and the Sixers had a meltdown in game 7 of the semis. Starting with Indy, who this makes the least sense for. They lose Sabonis, their young all star and get Tobias Harris, Simons and some picks from Portland. Giving up your best(or second best) player generally doesn't get you talent on a similar level but this time they get back Tobias Harris who is a versatile 4 who can create his own offense. The reason I could see Indy doing this is Sabonis isn't the type of player that Carlisle is used to coaching. In other words Sabonis doesn't fit his high octane offense, while Harris does. So, they give up Justin Holiday, Sabonis, Bitadze, and Lamb for Harris. Simons, Bryant, 2 firsts and 2 seconds. Pretty solid package overall. Moving on to Portland, they give up CJ and let Norman Powell be their 2 guard, and they have Sabonis run the 5. They also get Kuzma as their starting 3 or 4, whichever they prefer, as well as Bitadze and Holiday as rotational players. Overall, they get better on defense and become a deeper team. For Philly, they get CJ and can finally move Simmons to a forward spot. A lot of the weaknesses that Simmons has can be covered up as long as he isn't a primary ball handler. CJ can run PG and give Embiid a shot creator on the perimeter that they have lacked. For the Wizards, they get a defensive 5 as well as a bench scorer that are both on expiring deals and this helps them remain competitive for a playoff spot.
