76ers get their guy Eric Gordon, save 20million and don’t have to pay Matisse his extension. Also they get a chance to go after PJ Tucker with the MLE

Portland does this to get a defender in Matisse and Tobias is just another piece they can use if they want. I envision a super 6th man where he beats up 2nd units. They do this without giving up any core pieces really. They’d be spending a LOT of money but shows Dame that they’re serious.

Houston does this for young players (primarily Keon and Greg Brown) and salary relief since Bledsoe is partially guaranteed and can be bought out.
