Notable UDFA's
Keon Ellis: A defensive oriented guard out of Alabama, he’s very prominent as a catch and shoot 3&D guy. He’s an older prospect who’d look really nice on a competitive team and could provide next to some genuine stars as a defensive role player. Comp: Bruce Brown
Peyton Watson: A lengthy forward who had lots of hype in high school, he never really panned out at UCLA, with a limited role, and inconsistent play. He has some potential, but he’s insanely raw, so it ould take a few years in the G-League. Comp: Marvin Bagley
Julian Champagnie: A taller forward/guard out of St-John’s, He’s versatile on both ends as a creative scorer and competent defender, so if he puts his mind to it, he has all the tools to be a competent player in this league. Comp: Justin Champagnie
Kai Sotto: Ah, Kai Sotto, the pride and joy of the Phillipines. Playing in Australia last year, he showcased his talent in the few minutes he had on the court. He’s a genuine 7’2 with the potential to become a great player in this league even if he isn’t drafted. The reason he remains undrafted is simply because people haven’t had enough exposure to his game, and his bust potential is also big. The best part about Kai Sotto is the marketing that comes from him. If a team picks him, they get an army of Filipinos obsessed with him as well. This could lead to lots and lots of jerseys being sold. Either way, as an UDFA he’s a low-risk high reward guy Comp: Bol Bol
Khalifa Diop: A strong center who has the makings to become a solid rotational big in the league. He’s an lob threat who can become really good developed in the right place Comp: Mitchell Robinson
Michael Foster: A 3 level scorer who played in the g-league as a small ball five. He was highly touted in high school as a combo four, but he struggled in the g-league last season. He has experience, so he could be ready to play in a roster as of early. Comp: Lesser Randle
Mateo Spagnolo: An Italian Sharpshooter, he could provide to as a off screen catch and shoot prospect. He has an array of dribble moves and step backs he used in the Italian league. Comp: JJ Reddick
Vince Williams: A 3&D potential forward who looks like he has loads of promise as a great pickup for any team. He has lots of promise with a very smooth 3 point shot and an array of moves all around the court. He’s a smart player, that VCU trusted with the keys this year as their star player. He’s also a very good playmaker, as we’ve seen in key games, where he’s done everything ( 22-8-9-2 game) Comp: Smaller Wiggins
Kenny Lofton: An undersized center out of Louisiana Tech, he proved lots of people wrong at the G-League elite Camp. He got an invite from there, showcasing his agility and offensive skills during the scrimmages. The knock-on Lofton is the fact that he plays as a big, being a 6’5, 275 lbs. We really haven’t seen that before, so a team can attempt to pick him up for their G-League team. Comp: Small Glen Davis
Hyunjung Lee: A Korean sharpshooter out od Davidson, he has the potential to be one of the biggest steals in this draft. He might be slightly unathletic, and he’s currently rehabbing from an injury right now, but he has all the potential in the world as a big pure shooter. If he had gone further in the tournament, his stock could’ve risen to be an early second rounder, but because of his injury, he could be a player teams decide to take a chance on to rehab and save for next year. Comp: Klay Thompson lite
Jordan Hall: A jumbo sized guard out of Saint-Joseph, he used his skills greatly after pulling out of last year’s draft. Usually, big guards like him have a role, and I think he can contribute nicely to a team’s bench by next season. He has a great passing vision and great size for a guard, which could lead to a team picking him up in FA Comp: Kyle Anderson
Jamaree Bouyea: Bouyea looked nice at the G-League elite camp, showing that he can pretty much always score from everywhere on the court. He’s slight, only weighing like 170 lbs, but he showed his scoring at San Francisco all year. This San Francisco team was a good one and he put up a masterclass in March Madness, even though they lost in the round of 64. He had 36 points in that game, which is no easy feat. Some team will pick him up. And with the right dev team, he can for sure make a roster sooner rather then later. Comp: Terry Rozier
Collin Gilespie: A level headed mature guard who showed insane amounts of leadership as a senior at Villanova. Villanova breeds winning players, and Gillespie is just that, making loads of final 4s and playing great as a lead guard for this team. He’s a good shooter who always makes smart plays and can be a solid player that cracks a rotation by the end of the season. Comp: Payton Pritchard
Tevin Brown: My favorite UDFA prospect, Tevin feels like a Miami Heat guy. A small, insanely crafty guy, he can score on all levels. He’s a great shooter, at 6’5 who shot extremely clutch shots all year for Murray State. His only knock is his defense, but his scoring prowess is so dominating that he could make a roster by free agency. He’s prolific on all level and improved his shooting at every year in college. Comp: Anfernee Simons
Iverson Molinar: Another one of my favorite players in this draft, Molinar is a twitchy, quick guard, who came out of Mississippi State with great translatable skills remnant to De’Anthony Melton or Gabe Vincent. A mature older guard, at 6’3, with great 3&D skills, who can help any team get to the next level. He’s a smooth scorer and a capable defensive player, who’s really going to be a steal once he gets to a team. He also has a massive wingspan, so his profile is great for a guard. Comp: De’Anthony Melton
Darius Days: Another one of my favorite prospects, he’s a big, bodied forward that developed a 3 point shot at LSU through his tenure there. A shorter forward who shoots, rebounds, and hustles. He brings lots of energy and hustle to the game with his ability to guard 3 through 5 at a solid clip. He says that he models his build after PJ Tucker and I see it in his game. When you compare yourself to a role player, you can really imagine the trajectory of consistency these players go through on a regular basis. I’d really like him for the Heat, but I can see him thriving in many places as a 3&D forward that always brings energy and defense to the court. Comp: PJ Tucker, Paul Millsap
Orlando Robinson: A post dominant center out of Fresno State, he provides lots of post scoring and defense, as well as a developing 3 pointer. He’s like any other center, a solid center that could, provide to an NBA offense as a backup someday. Comp: Mitchell Robinson
