Why OKC accepts; They currently are not going anywhere treading around 12-13 and eventually when OKC does draft those talented players, they will take years to develop into stars before they are able to help Shai compete. By then OKC will have a small window of years to contend for a championship before Shai naturally declines due to age. Not to mention the risk of him requesting a trade later where his value would be lowered. The 5 incoming first round picks is about equivalent to Shai's value and the incoming players clear 28Mil over the next 2 years while keeping the team under the cap during their years there. Selling Shai now would also mean better odds at landing wembenyama this year, and better odds next year while picks develop.

Why Mavs accept; They get a much needed all star to pair alongside Luka. Guys like Luka need a 1-2 punch backup to be able to win a championship as Giannis has Middleton and Holiday or Curry has Klay and Wiggins, etc... Fred will provide the Mavs with a lot more 3pt shooting and defense which will significantly increase their odds in a championship, making 2 first round picks an easy call for the Mavs.

Why the Raptors accept; With Fred being 28 already it would be wiser to sell him to a contender for current best value rather than paying him more than Shai. The Raptors already have a good foundation so selling off a lot of picks may not hurt too bad, and would definitely show to be worth it once Scottie Barnes develops over a couple more years and they have a big 3 of Siakam, Shai and Barnes.
