This is "Raptors for Draft Picks" here rather than just moving Siakam they also move Gary Trent Jr.
Raptors
The Raptors get a draft haul 5 unprotected firsts , 1 semi-protected. They also made that Jakub trade with the Spurs prior to realizing they would lose VanVleet and in the cold light of day probably recognize the pieces are not quite right. So It's a rebuild around Anouby and Barnes. Still part of that Jakub trade was not wanting to be heavily invested in a 2024 draft they assessed as weak so there is some reasoning in targeting 2026 with picks around it. The haul:
2024: Pacers Unprotected 2024 1st Rounder, 2nd rounder from the Pelicans (Subject to San Antonio Swap)
2025: The Lesser of the Nets Own Pick and the Phoenix Pick acquired in the Durant trade
2026: Unprotected Pacers 1st, Unprotected Pelicans First
2027: Unprotected 76ers First
--- Players
Danny Thies - Team Option after this year (he's cap filler)
Royce O'Neal - Expiring contract viable wing (maybe flipable at trade deadline)
Ben Simmons - No they wouldn't count on him if he rehabs so be it if not he's done in 2 seasons
Pacers
They get Siakam , they move on from Myles Turner and TJ McConnell only plus picks
Pelicans
The big move here is moving out McCollum, he's a great scorer but he's still undersized and a defensive liability who doesn't exactly look natural as a primary ball distributor. Gary Trent Jr may not exactly create many of his own shots but he does fine has good range and is an average to slgihtly above average defender. More so he fits the same age range as Ingraham and Zion. TJ McConnell is an old school pass first point guard and distributor that should help them run their offense more efficiently. They get a much more well rounded team including, Myles Turner who just brings mobility and range that Jonas Valanciunas does not. It's still always about if Zion plays, but even if he doesn't its likely deep enough to be a playoff team, if he does who knows?
Brooklyn Nets
First and foremost they get off the Ben Simmons issue, however adding CJ McCollum is a nice bump for them while he's a little older than their core they have the interior defense and a PG to pair with him that limits the downside the Pelicans had. He is a great scoring option and levels them up. Nance makes an exceptionally nice mentor to Noah Clowney to boot and brings some similarities in style of play.
