It’s pretty clear that right now blowing it all up would be the safest option for the future of the Phoenix Suns. Many Suns fans are even hoping for that to happen because they don’t have enough faith in their current lineup, especially after they just got swept in the 1st round. They most likely won’t do that just yet because they have paid a hefty price for both Beal and Durant. I still decided to make this mock IF they were to blow it up right now, this is what it could look like.

Beal is pretty much impossible to be moved for the next 3 seasons so they’ll have to keep him. KD is still a top 15 or even a top 10 player in the league depending on who you ask, so he still holds some value. Devin Booker is their most valuable asset though, at 27 years old with 4 years left on his contract. The Houston Rockets would have to make an offer for him if the Suns were to blow their roster up. They own most of the Phoenix picks excluding some swaps that are owned by other teams. Without acquiring these picks, the Phoenix Suns are not entering a rebuild so the Rockets would have to let go of these picks for the Suns to be able to start tanking and rebuilding their roster.

In this mock I got the Rockets giving up all of the Suns 1st rounders that they own + an unprotected 1st round pick of their own. I also gave them FVV who only has 1 more season guaranteed on his contract with the last year being on a team option. I also gave them Jalen Green who looked very promising towards the end of the season. His contract is expiring after the next season and he’ll be a restricted free agent who they can easily pay for.

This trade makes sense for the Rockets because they are still looking for that first option who they haven’t been able to figure out just yet. Booker would be that 1st option superstar that the Rockets still lack in their roster. This trade would make them a real contender even in the west. They’d have to trust either Amen or Reed as their starting point guard now that FVV is gone. Amen lacks shooting and Reed lacks experience but I think coach Udoka would be able to figure out the pg position for them.

I also included the Memphis Grizzlies in this trade because they own the 2030 Suns / Wizards swap and the Suns have someone that the Grizzlies would like in their roster, Jusuf Nurkic. Everyone knows that Memphis has been in a need of a center. They were hoping to draft Clingan but Portland took him from them so they chose Edey. Picking him was a gamble and most people don’t expect him to be very good in the NBA. He won’t solve their lack of centers in their lineup because they’re still very shallow in the center position. Nurkic would be a proven starter with experience who Edey could back up from the bench. They wouldn’t even need to give up much, only the 2030 pick, 2 2nd round picks and John Konchar.

This is just the part 1 and I will be doing a part 2 soon where KD is traded.
