Trade has several purposes, but overall I feel like it’s a win for each team. Why for each:

Wolves: KAT’s salary is about to jump and they’re on a bit of a cap crunch with other key players as FA’s. They’ve played very well without him, and could look to move him following this season. Garland adds a long-term solution at PG, adds playmaking, scoring, and shooting. I know they extended Conley, but he’s already 36 and could become the backup PG. Garland makes about $15M less than KAT next season, so it’d let the Wolves re-sign Slo-Mo and some others without impacting their overall cap number.

Pels: Add a long-term solution at C with a mobile big on a good contract. Could still opt to re-sign JV as a backup if they desire. Wade adds front court depth and shooting. Jones would be a tough guy to trade, but they still have Ingram, Murphy, Daniels, plus other picks to add pieces. They could decide to resign Marshall as well.

Cavs: Obviously the motivation is to re-tool the roster around Mobley and Mitchell. Mobley/KAT is a nice front court pairing and would dramatically improve spacing. Jones would start at SF and could drop to the 4 with Mobley or KAT at the 5. Nance comes back home to Cleveland, gives flexible front court depth, and fits with Mobley, KAT, or Jones.

Not sure who the Cavs start at the other guard spot, but they’d have Strus, Okoro, and LeVert plus a 1st and some other pieces to play with.
