This is an experiment to get the Hawks their picks back from the Spurs to let them tank, inspired by the recent Brooklyn/Houston trade. In this deal, they retrieve their unprotected 2025 and 2027 draft picks, but not the 2026 unprotected swap. The Spurs have all the leverage here. The Hawks make a bad deal with the Wizards to take on the Bagley contract just to be able to offer more pick capital. They lose Bogdanovic to the Spurs, as he’s a valuable player on a good contract, and one of the best shooters in the league - the Spurs need shooting. They give up everything the Spurs might want for their picks back and the chance to effectively tank. It might take way more than this, to be fair, and the Spurs could just say no if they want two chances at Cooper Flagg or the other top prospects.
