Alliteration aside...

MIN

  • Before this trade, Timberwolves are looking at a $100M tax bill for being as far above the second apron as they are. This trade puts you almost exactly at the second apron (getting below the second apron erases that bill entirely). Fans don't always care about this but the front office will - high bill and lack of flexibility is the primary reason KAT got traded

  • Get affordable stretch big who can shoot threes, is solid on defense, and can play alongside Rudy (be a poor man's KAT with better defense)

  • Get back-up guard depth

  • Get a couple of first for a team that doesn't have a lot of draft capital

Toronto

  • Despite their lack of success, Raptors aren't actively trying to be bad. This move potentially launches them to compete with IND, ORL, and others on the second tier of the eastern conference, probably getting them into playoff-berth conversations without locking them into long-term, terrible contracts.

  • Land an all-start in Randle and former all-star in Vuc

Bulls

  • Take on more money, but at least the contracts are expiring

  • Try out a young player
