Cavs- Garland and Mitchell are obviously not a good fit together because of their size and play style. Smart however is bigger and an elite defender. He also doesn’t require the ball like Garland does which means the Cavs can keep the ball in Mitchell’s hands. Clarke is also a great upgrade at backup PF and could also end up starting next to Mobley if Allen gets traded. The Cavs also get control of their 2025 first round pick back as well as a great young prospect to work with in Cody Williams, who they can keep and maybe he may grow into the starting caliber SF the Cavs have been looking for or they can flip him in a separate trade to upgrade the team around Mitchell.
Jazz- The Jazz and Danny Ainge claim that they’re looking to build around Lauri as part of the core and resigning him has taken a step in that direction. This trade would be another major step. Garland is an all star level guard who upgrades this team at scoring, play making, and shooting. Him and Lauri would be a potent offensive duo and the pick and rolls with Kessler should work well for the Jazz. He also fits along the same young timeline as Lauri and the rest of the team. They give up Cody Williams and draft capital but they still keep their own picks and Williams wasn’t going to play much as a rookie anyway. They also dump the John Collins contract which is a great plus for the Jazz.
Grizzlies- Marcus Smart will be on the bench with Ja and Bane in the backcourt so his value would be better elsewhere. This move provides the Grizzlies with draft capital and scoring in place of Smart and Clarke. Collins could pair well with either JJJ or Edey as he can provide scoring while the other makes up for his defensive limits. Memphis can also use the draft capital to upgrade the roster as they look to contend in a highly competitive Western Conference. Wade is also not a bad addition either as he provides great three point shooting.
