Knicks: PG Jalen Brunson, SG Mikal Bridges, SF Josh Hart, PF OG Anunoby, C Karl-Anthony-Towns B Miles McBride, Daniel Gafford, Cameron Payne, Precious Achiuwa
Mavericks: PG Luka Doncic, SG Kyrie Irving, SF Klay Thompson, PF PJ Washington, C Jakob Poeltl B Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Chris Boucher, Dereck Lively II
The Knicks have a barren frontcourt due to the lack of Mitchell Robinson, so they ship him and 2 2027-second round picks in exchange for Gafford, who can start next to Towns as a big body or play behind him as a backup C. While not as stout of a defender as Robinson, Gafford's reliability will come up big in playoff settings.
The Mavericks use some capital to upgrade Gafford to Jakob Poeltl and move off of Kleber's contract for a more serviceable backup 4 in Chris Boucher, creating a very strong frontcourt group with them in addition to Dereck Lively. This further aids their roster as they aim to make a deep playoff run and Poeltl's experience will help massively as Lively is still extremely young.
The Raptors get a 1st, and 3 seconds for their pair of frontcourt players which feels like fair value. Pretty simple recouping of assets to further tank (Robinson can also start when he's healthy).
