The 1st reaction for everyone, including me, is Raptors fleeced, well indeed, RJ is averaging more than OG and do hv a higher ceiling, and Quickley, has been just amazing in New York and is key for their bench scoring. All that for just an OG Anunoby, does seem too much
But for the Knicks, im not gonna talk bout OG, everyone knows he's one of the best 3&D wings in the league playing some top tier defense, but the other 2 piece, might be very helpful
Main one being Precious Achiuwa, a C who does hv some talent, and although he's undersized, there's one thing that Knicks big dont have now and it's the shooting. Precious isnt gd at shooting, but he can, unlike Sims, Mitch and Hartenstein, all 3 who cant shoot the ball. It might just benefit the Knicks offense much with another big to shoot. Especially with Mitch Rob out for the year, hving a cheap contract in to at least allow them to survive this year seems very very wise. Extending him will not cost them as much as they need to pay Quickley, price should at least be cut half or more compare to a potential Quickley extension
Another player is Malachi Flynn, I dont rate him much, but at least he's a rotational piece for the Raptors this season, and although he's not Quickley, Knicks at least still have another ball handler if they failed to make another deal
Last it's the financial situation. I do think Quickley will get at least 20+million contract for at least 3 years and it will just go up. Knicks have Brunson, Donte, Hart locked up for contracts, and upcoming Grimes who all can only play PG-SF, if they still paying Barrett on average 27M per season for the next 3-4 years, and Quickley who cant rlly fit beside Brunson in the Playoffs at least 20M, that wil be too much money tied up on their guards. Comparing to Barrett and Quickley who will cost them at least 50M combined for the next 3 seasons, they now just need to lock OG on a deal which basically will at most cost 30-36M, that's way less money committed to their 1-3 positions. OG can play a little bit of PF too which will help Knicks depth there too
Conclusion is i still got Raptors winning the trade, but is it by far? after few hrs of the trade i cannot agree on that
