Another odd blockbuster: Knicks get Bridges, Nets get Green plus picks, Houston gets Grimes and picks

This is another weird one which as I'll acknowledge up front, makes it far less likely (and a trade between the Nets and Knicks is already super unlikely). For this to happen, a lot would have to go right for the Knicks. The Nets would have to decide to pick up the phone for a trade for the first time in decades AND the Rockets would have to decide that draft capital and Grimes is worth moving on from Green. So you can see that this is probably not happening but I wanted to see if the framework could work.

Knicks: The Knicks get Bridges, who could be the final piece on this roster. He can create his own shot and play off ball and is an elite defender. Having both Bridges and OG in the starting lineup would be a nightmare for opposing offenses, and they're both rangy wings who could lock down offenses. Plus, the Knicks would still have a great center in either Mitch or Hartenstein and Randle when locked in is a solid defender. The Knicks would probably have to give up more picks for this to happen but honestly I think it would be worth it. This season is already showing the value of chemistry and the former Nova players are a big part of that. Adding the final piece from that team could be the piece that vaults the Knicks to contender status.

Nets: As I said above, the Nets haven't traded with the Knicks in decades. You have to go all the way back to 1983 to find the last trade. But stranger things have happened. They get a young player in Green who has his flaws but has also flashed star potential. Plus they get some of their picks back and some from the Knicks as well. Fournier's contract is a team option for next year so he's not staying long and that may open space to re-sign players like Claxton who they risk losing in free agency. Like I said above, I don't think this is happening, but something like this could be the framework for how it does.

Rockets: The Rockets are reportedly open to moving on from one of their young players. Could that be Jalen Green? He's flashed star potential but his shooting still remains suspect, and while he can be a good defender when locked in, he still hasn't done that consistently. The Rockets get Grimes, a player who played locally in college at Houston and can offer more 3 point shooting and defense than Green gives. He doesn't have a high of a ceiling as Green but the Rockets still have some great young players like Sengun and Smith Jr. along with a ton of other promising players (Thompson, Whitmore, Eason, just to name a few). He's easier to plug into an offense and let the others develop. They get a couple of FRPs from the Knicks as well. They reportedly want Bridges, so I don't think they'd do this as they see him going to the Knicks instead. As with the Nets, the Knicks might need to send more to even make them consider this.
