Huge trade: Knicks get Wiggins and frontcourt help, Raptors get IQ and Moody (plus picks) and Warriors get Siakam and Grimes

It's seeming more an more likely that the Knicks will make some sort of move. The Warriors are reportedly considering trading Wiggins and the Raptors have to make a decision on the futures of OG and Siakam. This trade helps all 3 teams in their goals for this season and beyond. I'll also acknowledge that the lawsuit that the Knicks have filed against the Raptors does make this even less likely but hopefully both sides (cough, Dolan) wouldn't let pettiness in the way of a trade that could help them both.

Knicks: The Knicks get Wiggins and capitalize on his low value. He's having a bad season but may need a change in scenery where he's not required to do as much on offense. The Knicks also would let him get more looks from 3 where he's historically been a good shooter as they have several players (Brunson, RJ, Randle) who operate best when they can kick out to a shooter when they drive. He would also let RJ play at his preferred position at the 2, which would also help him get better matchups on both ends. Wiggins would also be the primary defender of opposing teams best players and RJ's length would also be more effective at the 2 spot as well. Overall, he balances out the lineup in ways that the Knicks need. They also add Jackson-Davis who's shown promise at Golden State and has been a solid rebounder when called upon. He could backup Randle and would allow for him to rest more in the regular season. Finally, they get Achiuwa who could be another impact role player at Center or PF, where the Knicks don't have a lot of depth. It hurts to lose IQ but it doesn't seem like Thibs is going to give him the playing time he deserves and the front office doesn't seem likely to sign him to a new extension after not doing so in the offseason. Likewise, Grimes has seen his minutes decrease and would be better off elsewhere.

Raptors: This is now Scottie Barnes team, that much is clear on a struggling Raptors team. The Raptors have a hard decision to make with OG and Siakam poised to potentially leave for nothing and they don't have a double repeat of the FVV situation from last year. This sees them recoup two young players in IQ and Moody who would see much more time on this Raptors team. IQ could be their starting PG as he gives them a solid 3 point shooter and a plyer who can provide assists as well. He's also shown that he can connect with a scoring big man like Poetl and could mimic some of the plays that FVV ran with Poetl that were successful last year. Moody is also the Raptors favorite type of player, a wing who they could develop and give the playing time that he hasn't seen on the Warriors. They also get Looney who could fill in at the center position and is a solid and winning veteran. They also get Fournier who's mainly here for salary reasons and is on a team option for next year so he could open up space as the Raptors may want to open up more room to retain OG as he fits the timeline more than Siakam. They also get some protected FRPs from the Knicks and an unprotected FRP from the Warriors.

Warriors: The Warriors have shown signs of life but this still isn't a team that looks like a contender, despite having the NBA's largest payroll. This trade gives them two players who can really make a difference in ways that this team needs. Siakam can be a small ball center for the Warriors and would thrive in their system. He's a good passer and a great defender and is the win-now type of player that the Warriors are looking for. They lose Wiggins but he's having a tough season and Moody hasn't looked like he'll get a huge increase in playing time either. Jackson-Davis has looked bright but they're getting Siakam and Grimes, who's a great 3 and D player who's still growing. He's already defending the best in the league and would be empowered to shoot more on this team than he is on the Knicks. They get a 2024 FRP from the Knicks which gets them back into this years draft to either trade or get a young prospect.
