Blazers add a low-cost upgrade to help Dame (and form a great shooting backcourt) while saving prospects, future picks, and trade exceptions for a bigger deal while the Knicks move off of Fournier while swapping up from ~10-12 to ~6-8 in the draft lottery. This trade wouldn’t happen if Portland lands Zach Lavine or Brad Beal and becomes tougher to do if either team ends up in the top ~4, although the concept could likely work with a future pick instead of the 2022 swap.
