This, in my opinion, is the most likely Knicks trade of the offseason and the one they will be chasing.
I think the writing is on the wall that Mikal Bridges will want out of Brooklyn and the Knicks are by far the most appealing option for him. He can stay in NY and gets to play with his Villanova teammates in Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo.
The Knicks also possess the most draft capital of any team that would be interested in adding Bridges. The Nets will be reluctant to send him to their cross town rival but if their GM is smart, they'll realise what a great opportunity this is to reset the franchise and add some desperately needed young talent.
This trade not only gives the Knicks another shot creator but a guy who has shown can be an all-league defender on the perimeter, pairing with arguably the leagues best perimeter defender in OG Anunoby. It allows New York to hide Brunson on defense easier than with DiVo in the lineup and allows for the option of going small if need be. I believe this move firmly places New York in title contention and puts the fear of god in opposing offenses.
