Why the Lakers do it?
Lakers need vets who know how to get a bucket (outside of AD and Bron), and they need defense. This trade gets them both, while giving up Austin Reeves. If he really is this valuable, moving him for All star guard Dejounte Murray would be a must do move. Then the addition of Bogey, would make him the second or third best 3 point shooter on the team. Which will help the Lakers with their deep playoff run. Acquiring these two pieces will help set the tone for the rest of the season for the Lakers, by providing them with what they need the most which is three point scoring and Defense. The lineup of Russell, Murray, Bron, Vando/Bogey, Davis, would be a real threat to the 2023 NBA champion Denver Nuggets.
Why the Hawks do it?
Murray and Young don’t work, send Murray to Lakers, and you get back a First round pick (2029, most likely after Bron retires and the Lakers will be looking rough). That FRP, will have value down the road, If Atlanta is serious about building up their war chest, then acquiring this pick, will help them slot down the road. I think this deal doesn’t get done unless pistons add the second rounders. Atlanta would a buddying Reaves who can start next to Trae young, and play some good defense. While also being a solid playmaker for when Trae is off the court. This would most likely be the first of many, I would think they would move on from Hunter and or Capela too based off this deal.
Why the Pistons do it?
They are basically swapping, Bogey and 3 SRP picks for Rui Hachimara, who almost 10 years younger then Bogey and Gabe Vincent as a salary filler, who can help the Pistons young guards. Now do the Pistons need Vincent, probably not, (once Morris gets back), but Pistons could flip Vincent immediately to another team, but I did not want to include this in this article. Pistons also aquire Rui, who is a solid wing for the Pistons, who adds an above average three point. Shot, and a pretty decent defender this year. I’m excited to see a lineup of Cade, Ivey, Rui, Stew, and Duren.
