The Lakers over the past two seasons have made (out of all their problems) one massive mistake, which is getting a ball-dominant point guard that cannot shoot. From Dennis Schroder to Russell Westbrook, the Lakers have to stop doing this because as long as LeBron James is on the team, he will be controlling the offence and will be the main ball handler in the first and last 5 minutes. In this trade the Lakers trade Russ, THT and salary filler and picks for two less dominant point guards who can control the ball well and initiate offence alongside LeBron and when he is off the floor. Ricky Rubio is known for his pick and roll and can destroy the defence by throwing alleys to Anthony Davis. TJ McConnell can play his role off the bench and will provide (when he comes out of injury) defence which the lakers need from their guards. Obviously, Buddy Hield will play a huge role as a spot-up shooter and will be used mainly in the wing spots. He will provide the lakers with a massive 3PT advantage, with LeBron shooting the best in his career and especially since AD hasn't been the shooter he needs to be.

For the pacers, they need a more ball-dominant point guard who can handle the ball and cut into the basket and pass out to their shooters such as Chris Duarte, Malcolm Brogden and could even be Myles Turner who gets out of the paint and becomes a better 3PT shooter from the top of the key when Russ goes and attack mode. They also get multiple second-rounders and first-rounders and get a young THT who can anchor their defence alongside Chris Duarte and Myle Turner. They can both rebuild and be in have the potential to have a dangerous young core with Russ in the East.
