Proposed Starting Lineup: Reaves, Brown, LBJ, Stewart, AD Bench Unit: Schroder, Max, Knecht, DFS, Sharpe
I'm in favor of trading both first round picks for very high level role players and depth rather than going after another star. In my opinion the Lakers will always have the allure of attracting another star in free agency, and currently I don't think there is someone out there who the Lakers can acquire with just two FRP's who will fix most of their needs.
I think with simply the Nets trade you meet most of the Lakers needs. Bench PG to replace DLO, 3 and D wing, and true big who can rebound. I think what will take the Lakers over the top are to add a versatile floor spacing big to pair next to AD, and a POA defender to cover Reaves.
The lineup versatility with this roster would allow Redick to get pretty creative. You could a bunch of shooters out there with Reaves, Knecht, DFS, LBJ, and Stewart; or you could put together a defensive dynamo with Schroder, Brown, DFS, Stewart, and AD.
Does the team win the championship? I'm not certain, but you have a pretty good chance at shaking up the deck and changing the culture of this team. I see this roster matching up a lot better agains the Nuggets, and if they were to get far enough, I could see them having the depth to at least hang with the Celtics.
Even though we are giving up quite a bit I think we will reinvigorate the team and have a sneaky young core. Thinking of the future I a core of Reaves (26yo), Max (21yo), Knecht (23yo), Stewart (23yo), Sharpe (23yo) could be the pretty interesting base for rebuilding. What could they look like in 4 years?
What do Lakers fans think? What do fans of the other franchises think? Would the Lakers be giving up enough?
