WHY KNICKS DO IT:

They swap the rookie contracts because if Kemba can't play at Thibs rythm, they only have Rose and Quickley who's not even a real PG and...seriously? That's not a good rotation. In fact they started Burks at PG vs Bulls.

Robinson misses many games, so they are used to play without him. They have Noel, Taj, also Randle plays many minutes at center when needed. They get Dwight who rarely miss games.

WHY MAVS DO IT:

Because we have Luka and THJ getting 55 millions next year, if we pay Jalen too our salary cap would be 50% guards, while our big rotation is the worst in the league. With Kemba we get for cheap a pretty good player, even at 60% he can give a good help for limitated minutes. With Luka, we don't need a 15m player as his backup. That's why we need more Robinson than Jalen.

Basically, we downgrade our 6th man spot for an upgrade of starting C.

But without the first I wouldn't do it, we are basically swapping 2 healthy players, for 2 injury prone ones
