WOOGA POPLAR BREAKDOWN

He's an elite shooter from three and is also nice from the midrange. It's easy to look past his not so perfect form when you look at his near 90 percent free throw percentage. He has all the makings of an elite NBA shooter as he can shoot on the move and get into his jumper fast. The real question with him is what is he on the days the jumper just isn't falling. Can he create off the dribble, can he play defense, I got to watch a game where for the first 30 minutes he couldn't hit a shot so here are my takes on who he is as an all around player. As a creator he isn't great, every time he tried to create a jumpshot to play to his strengths he either turned it over or was forced into an off balanced mid range shot. He can make those but in the NBA offenses won't want him taking that. When driving he had mixed results, he attacked closeouts and finished well when there wasn't help, but other times when help came, he didn't have the finishing moves to create an advantage for himself which lead to a bad shot. I didn't see playmaking from him but I think his role is definitely going to be a shooter/ maybe closeout attacking so I wasn't expecting to see any great reeds from him anyway. He's good off the ball this is how I expect him to get looks.
Defensively, he's below average. Off the ball he had a couple issues with screen nav and was late on a few closeouts. He moves well off the ball he doesn't ball watch a ton so I don't think he'll be terrible just some positioning things that could be worked on. On the ball he's a bit skinny so this hurts him here but I think his defensive strength is point of attack defense, he is good at staying on his man and recovering quickly. I compare him to a Julian Strawther, great shooter who's good off ball but isn't great as a defender. He's a better defender than Julian but not quite as good as a self creator. Both pretty skinny.
