If you've watched any Heat this season, you might have noticed in the absence of Caleb Martin Jaime Jaquez has had a terrific rookie start this year as a 4 year guy coming out of UCLA. He's looked like an NBA ready wing and has defend some of the best players in the league and made a super clutch three last night against the Grizzlies. He's overplayed a ton of guys picked above him.
This makes me ask the question is age really overrated in draft scouting? I don't believe that a 23 year old doesn't have the capacity to grow in the NBA after improving in college. We've seen guys make mid career transformations and improve their games long after they've went into college, and upperclassmen tend to be more NBA ready than younger guys, who may or may not be NBA caliber players. The conversation on upside is way too aged based in my opinion at this point. Since NBA development is so advanced now players can develop skills year to year and get better.
