Starting off our rebuild.

Here I have a list of potential players to add to our rebuilding squad. I've also listed players 'On Contract' still, who are either in the way, or on expiring deals (not worth thinking about for the future).

In all likelyhood nothing changes. But this is what I mocked up...

The main issue with our C spot is rebounding. With a shot chucker like Cam T, we need a guy who gets into good rebounding spots:

  • Ben Simmons: I hate his contract, I rarely see him play, and he almost always gives up a 'gimmie'. But Ben Simmons Tip rebounds were terrific when he and our star prospect (CT) were on the court together. I've listed him as 'likely' because, there really is no getting rid of him, and he's the most experienced.

  • Oscar Tshiebwe: This 24yr old man is an outstanding rebounder, and currently has 0 investment placed in him. He would be an easy steal in F/A and a lock for a team friendly multi year contract. He is short tho, at the height of 6'8 he is very undersized.

  • Adama Sanogo: Adama is even younger (currently 22) and is supposedly more gifted offensively (though neither shoot). He is one inch taller than Tshiebwe, but is a slightly worse rebounder. Sanogo Like Oscar, has little investment in him, so shapes up to be an easy snag for the team.

  • HM: Could trade Dorian straight up for Adams. He's Old, but his effortless work at C would allow young players to develop around a sounder style of play.

Our PF spot has been WEAK. Running Cam J at PF (although he's a good player) does nothing for us defensively. This list of players adds Height whilst maintaining shooting:

  • Noah Clowney: 0 Reason this man didn't get minutes last season (with the state of that position). Noah showed consistency in scoring when he was finally brought up. He surprised me with how solid his game was, being only 19. He should have all the time he needs this next season, to carve out his place as an one of the few aspiring and naturally gifted PF.

  • Bol Bol: I really had him at C, but I decided to put him in the same category as players of similar offensive ability. Bol is someone I'd honestly hope to see in the starting line-up, to develop next to the young fellas (if Simmons pulls a Simmons again this season, then it's a no brainer really). But I'd say sign Bol, as I believe he's reaching a turning point in his game, and putting him in a spot to shine rn could open up a lot of potential for him.

  • Kai Jones: He's one year younger than Bol (23) and has a desire to really light up an nba court, only trouble is his game is unrefined. He has good instincts, but no tools to execute with. He's quick, 6'11 and likes to 'yam it'. I see him being a tremendous hustle guy, with big upside. A player a rebuilding team really can't go wrong with.

  • HM: Bruno Caboclo? Tall, Defensively oriented, good speed, and a capable scorer. Bit old tho (28).

Before I go further, I'll note that not all players are young. I've added some older 'defensive' players like Queen & Green, for stability reasons... Truth be told these suggestions are likely place holders for our returning guys (Boban, Schroder, maybe Dorian) I'd hope to move most these fellas, but an expiring contract is an expiring contract. + There is some wisdom these players could part.

Anyway the Small Forwards:

  • Cam Johnson: Cam is a good player. That's it. He's not a special player, he's not worth his contract if you ask me, but he's good for stability (as little as we have). We'd be hard pressed to find a more suitable replacement for us at this stage (though personally I'd trade him for Jonathan Isaac), there is however somone available this off-season, who I wouldn't mind seeing play over him...

  • Obi Toppin: 57 40 77 those were the shooting splits for Obi last season. He only played 21 mins per game, but whenever he was on the floor, I was quiet impressed with him. He carries himself rather confidently, I get a sense from him that he's the sort of player to step up when needed.

  • Tre Queen: G-League proven, and Defensively able. Queen is a good backbone to a team whenever you need it (and we do).

  • Note: If we have Bojan at SF, we could put CJ at back-up 2. I know he's better than that, but it makes the roster deeper.

On to the Shooting Guards:

  • Cam Thomas: Yup.

  • Devonte Green: This guy is a true Hustle player, a magnificent piece to bolster competitivity. He's 30 so a very short term solution, not a bad guy to have other players around tho.

  • Lonnie Walker: One of the few bright spots on last Season's team, and a F/A. We should bring him back to the regular cast to back up Cam, for the coming years.

And Finally the PG spot... I have no desire to see Dennis back in BKNY, Fella's just mad for no reason. He also doesn't fit the timeline. He's likely to stay, with that 1 yr contract, but I picked out some capable young guys to replace him anyway.

  • Bones Hyland: This Guy is a Joy to watch, and probably the most naturally gifted PG on the list (affordably). At 23 he does need some work, and he might actually clash with CT for a while, but if they can somehow figure things out and work together on the court? We could have one of the craftiest guard duos.

  • Mac McClung: This guy is G-League proven, and is very good at dishing the rock. He is 5 years younger than Dennis (25), He would be able to replace Schroders eye for an open man, Helping retain some ball movement should we move on...

  • Daishen Nix: Another already proven G-League talent waiting for his shot. Nix shapes up to be quite the pick-pocket and a pretty okay shooter. This guy is 22 years old, with lots of room to bloom if we let him.

After all that, there's the Big Targets. All which are pretty self explanatory. I've listed 2 PG'S because we're set on SG. And I've one trade target (Duop). That's all that really needs said about that.

None of these are likely at all, with the disgusting contracts we currently possess, and the current outlook players will have on our team. Still, I've listed them none the less.

If we can somehow miraculously trade for a pick in this draft, I'd be elated, but I'm not really counting on it. If we did tho, who would you hope Nets add to the team? Hell, if we're lucky some gems might even go undrafted. Really, if there any young players worth having a look at let me know. Seems scouting's all I'll be doing for a few years.
