Why do the Pacers do this?

The pacers give up a pick in a weak draft, and retain all assets beyond this offseason (aside from two 2nds). Pascal is an elite fit as a secondary creator, and skilled screener for Halliburton. Additionally, he’ll have the most spacing he’s ever had in his career. Buddy Hield was also an expiring deal on the trade block. Neismith or brown can play the SF spot.

Essentially, as long as Jarace doesn’t develop to be better than Siakam, it’s worth it for Indiana.

Raps?

A lotto pick in Jarace is some of the best value you can get and makes for an intriguing defensive young core, along with two other picks as insurance if the rap’s pick doesn’t convey. Additionally, Jarace is better off the ball for a Scottie-focused offence. Fultz is a much-needed guard/advantage creator that can be developed and flip for more later.

Magic?

The magic has found their young, defensive backcourt with Suggs and black, Fultz doesn’t fit this roster as a poor defender and shooter. This makes for a poor off-ball player, which is especially bad for a team that runs its offence through its forwards (Paolo and Franz). He’s also a FA, and it doesn’t make sense to commit salary to a player that doesn’t fit. Additionally, it’s safe to assume that Denver pick will be of low value in 2025 (Jokic is really good).

This team desperately needs shooting and Hield is elite. This also puts them in a position to resign in the offseason and make a deep playoff run this year.
