WHY PISTONS

It's a step in the right direction as far as pairing Cade Cunningham with a star. I am one to believe that Jaden Ivey has LOADS of potential. I love his game and I'd hate to see him go. The same with Isaiah "Beef Stew" Stewart! With that said, the Pistons need a change they need it fast. I personally don't think there's much that Murray does that Jaden Ivey can't or won't eventually be able to do.....Except for one VITAL thing that the Pistons desperately need that Murray does at a superb/elite level, and that's defense. Ivey is still raw. Murray was once Ivey in a lot of ways. The Pistons, however, cannot afford to wait much longer and again, I don't think Ivey will ever be the player that Murray is defensively.

Murray would probably cost 3 1st round picks. The Pistons cannot offer that because they don't have it. In this trade, they trade 3 players who would equate as 1st round picks though and these players fit the needs of the teams they are going to.

Before I go to the next team, as a Pistons fan, let me mention what I think the Pistons should do next after this trade. They should offer James Wiseman, Killian Hayes, and a 2025 pick swap for Evan Fournier (who is racking up DNPs) and have their draft rights returned. With the Draft rights returned, swing for the fences in a Lauri Markanen trade. I'm thinking of Marvin Bagley, Kevin Knox, the 2024 first-round pick, an unprotected 2026 first-round pick, and a 2027 pick swap. The Pistons would have Cade Cunningham/Dejounte Murray/Ausar Thompson/Lauri Markanen/Jalen Duren and about 65 million in cap space (Joe Harris 20 mil/Evan Fournier 18.8 mil/Alec Burks 10.4 mil/Monte Morris 9.8 mil/Patty Mills 6.4 mil/Thaddeus Young 8 mil). However, Markanen would be getting a new contract right away which would probably decrease their cap space to somewhere in the 30-40 million dollar range. This would be the most masterful turnaround ever.

WHY RAPTORS

If there's a mystery team here, it's the Raptors. They're the only "I'm not sure about that" here. However, I believe that they're well compensated for Siakam here. For starters, with the departure of Fred VanVleet, they could use a star point guard. Jaden Ivey on the contrary could use a change of scenery. Ivey is a player that is best when he has the ball in his hands to make plays. I'm not sure that Monty has respect for his game overall due to his youth, lack of defense, and Cade Cunningham being "the guy". With the Raptors he can begin to flourish again and he doesn't clash with any of the other guys on the roster skill set-wise. DeAndre Hunter is a good 2way player who fits into the starting lineup if that's what they want. Bogdanovic is a veteran bucket-getter. The Raptors also receive a 1st round pick and two 2nd round picks. They Move forward with a wing trio of Jaden Ivey/RJ Barrett/Scotty Barnes. They may tank it this year, have a high lottery pick, and have an extra pick from Sacramento. Overall, I think it's a quite acceptable trade and fills some of their needs. I could see them moving Bogdanovic again afterward to a contender as he doesn't fit long term plans.

WHY HAWKS

Siakam compliments Trae Young so well. I've felt like they should trade for him for a very long time. Plugging him in at SF and letting him handle the ball-handling duties when Trae is off the ball waiting to splash one down will be superb. Jalen Johnson has been blossoming and fits very well between Siakam and Capela. With Bogdan Bogdanovic also developing nicely, whenever Siakam has the ball in his hands it's going to be a dangerous game having Young, Bogdanovic, and Johnson on the perimeter at any time as well as Capela in the paint. Capela has been an efficient player in the post for years now. Nothing special but he's extremely serviceable. Adding Isaiah Stewart will also give a little depth to the big positions as he is a hard-working tweener. I'll say MAYBE the Hawks don't want to give up that pick, but it's not going to be a lottery pick and if it was, they wouldn't get it anyway. It makes total sense for the Hawks in my opinion. They lost leverage with Murray being openly disgruntled and the fit with Trae Young clashing. Also, truth be told, for them, Siakam is a better player.
